Customer Reviews

Lots of features, but not read for prime time2
I bought this gps for the features and price, but have found some real problems with it.

1) POI is really poor and from what I had read, this is an understatement.
2) accuracy is off, it states you have arived a couple of hundred feet too early.
3) The traffic management feature isn't working even though it's activated.
4) The biggest issue. Contacted support via the website and never got a response.

Pretty much these are software issues, which can be resolved in patches, but there's not enough documentation on the site to tell me, if I'm at the latest software.

Disappointed and the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is the 2d/3d views with highway signs.

bang for the buck4
In addition to what other have already said ..

Pros:

- Text to speech with street names is very clear.
- Lane assist, reality view, speed limits and free traffic updates are very useful.
- Route re-calculation is almost spontaneous.
- GPS seems to be accurate within 10-20 feet.
- You can purchase map updates later unlike other GPS vendors.

Cons:

- Takes a while to get the GPS singal when turned on. I think the workaround is to always connect it to the car charger. The 2200T manual says we should use the car charger provided as it has a built-in antenna. With the charger plugged in it always connects within 1-2 mins. It works fine with my RAZR cell phone charger as well (However the manual said we should only use the charger provided in the box). If I dont connect the charger it takes much longer. They should have put this note in the one-page instructions they sent with the box.
- Once I reach the destination and switch off my car the unit hangs for a few seconds. This has happened quite frequently.
- POI search is not very intutive.
- Could have added a dial for the volume control.
- Day time display could have been better. The road you are travelling on and other highways are clearly visible but other intersections and roads are not. However the night time display is much better.

Great GPS but has limitations2
I used the Navigon 2200T in North Carolina for 9 days and it worked very well. The satellite acquisition was fast and the navigation was precise. I love the lane assistance, the street names announcements, speed warning and the compass. The POI is limited to a local area, but it is OK, because I only need to look for points of interests around where I am traveling. The problem was in the state of Vermont, it did not work well, sometimes not at all. It had trouble acquiring the satellite signal and whenever it got it, it lost during the trip and it could not get it back. For this reason only, I am giving a lower mark, because it was worthless in this state.
